Effective immediately, the Ministry of Long-Term Care has introduced a new visiting policy for Long Term Care Homes that is intended to supplement Directive #3.
This policy introduces 5 levels of screening & surveillance testing protocols that must be implemented to prevent, protect, restrict, control or lock down the spread of COVID-19. At present, Chatham-Kent’s risk level is yellow; however this may change quickly and we will need to respond accordingly, keeping the safety and well-being of residents and staff at the forefront.
- Green – Prevent
- Yellow – Protect
- Orange – Restrict
- Red – Control
- Grey – Lockdown

What’s changed for my visit today?
Chatham-Kent is currently in a yellow-protect level. All caregivers, support workers and general visitors must now demonstrate they have received a negative COVID-19 test result by showing the home the results of the test (e.g. printout or on a mobile device showing the individual’s name, test date & result). The test must have been done within two weeks of the date of your visit to the resident, and you will need to present this evidence to the screener when you enter the home. Please understand that this is a Ministry of Long Term Care DIRECTIVE and you will not be allowed to enter the home to visit without providing the required evidence. Your patience with our staff who are navigating through the constantly changing landscape of this pandemic, is very much appreciated.
