December 2023 Newsletter

Our Family Christmas Party is back, at Fairfield Park on Thursday December 7th

We are excited for entertainment, appetizers and refreshments in both Westside and Courtyard areas to bring in the Holiday season.

Please remember that we have staff and residents that are very sensitive to fragrances. We ask that you do not wear perfumed lotions or fragrance or purchase those for gifts.

All new clothing must be labeled by our environmental team. If you purchase any clothing, please make sure you drop it off at the front desk in a clearly marked bag with the residents name on it, so we can send it down for labelling.

If you are planning to take a loved one out over the holidays please be sure to let the RN/RPN know a few days ahead of time so that medications or treatments may be prepared.

Christmas Door Decorating Contest is being held this month, please feel free to help your loved one decorate their door for the holidays, door judging will take place December 19th.

MJ our in house hair dresser will be off for the next 6 weeks, Danielle Sterling will be filling in for her. Her hours will be posted outside of the hairdressing studio to ensure everyone is looking tip top for the Holiday season.

Our Residents’ Council & GM Construction have generously donated gifts for all of the residents this year. Thank you for thinking of our residents this Christmas season!

Santa will be here at 9:30 Christmas morning to deliver the gifts from under our Christmas trees. There will be a Christmas Social with refreshments and Christmas Treats to all residents and their family between 2:00 – 3:30 that afternoon in our Westside activity room.

Many family members have booked private Family Christmas Parties in our activity room this year. We will endeavor to have the room set up for you but in some cases we may need help to set up the tables and chairs as there are many families and activities scheduled this month.

We are unable to schedule any private parties in our activity room on Dec. 25th.

The traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served on Christmas Day.  Once again we are limiting dinner guests that evening to spouses of residents only.  You must make arrangements ahead of time by calling Ricki Haddon, our Director of Activation.  Dinner tickets may be purchased for $10.00 each.

Residents’ Council 50/50 Christmas Tickets are available to purchase for $2 for 1 or $5 for 3. Please see Ricki Haddon, Director of Activation, for tickets. The draw will be held December 21st at 3:30 the winner will be contacted!

As we wish Dr.Perkin all the best in his retirement, we will definitely miss him at the Home. He is retiring effective December 31st 2023, which at this time, all current residents under his care will be transferred over to our Medical Director, Dr. Dennis Atoe.  If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Richelle Lucier, Director of Nursing Programs at richellel@fairfieldpark.ca

RSV vaccines are now available for residents in long-term care! For more information or if you would like your loved one to receive a RSV vaccine please reach out to Lauren, our IPAC lead.

Don’t forget – we also have COVID vaccines available here. If you would like your loved one to receive one (if eligible) please let Lauren or any registered staff know.

From all of the staff, volunteers and residents at Fairfield Park,

We wish you a safe and happy holiday season and a Happy New Year
