May 2019 News

We would like to invite you to our Mother’s Day Brunch at Fairfield Park.  It is being held on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12th, from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  The cost is $10.00 per guest and $5.00 for residents and children under 12 years. Residents not wishing to attend the brunch will be served from the regular menu, in their dining room at noon. This year we will be having two serving times: 11:00am and 12:00pm. This does not mean your meal time is limited to an hour, it is purely to aid in food preparations and service. Please be sure to let us know which seating you would prefer so we can best accommodate your family. To make reservations, drop by our office or call 627-1663 and ask for the Activation Department, or email
P.S. Our Mother’s Day brunch is not just for Mom!  Dad may enjoy having a meal with his wife, daughters or granddaughters as well.

It is time to get our gardens ready for spring! If anyone enjoys weeding or planting, let the Activity Department know, as we would appreciate any help. Gardening clean up dates and times are on the May calendars. Give us a call if you would like to help during those times or at another!

We often get asked where families can make donations at Fairfield Park. Our Memorial Garden is an excellent place to make a donation as it greatly affects our outdoor programming. Palliative/End-of-Life care is another great option for donations as it allows us to create a comfortable and supportive environment for our residents and their families at end-of-life. Please contact Joanne Vink if you wish to make a donation.

A memo from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care – “Long-term care homes have made improvements in the way they use bed rails. However, critical incidents resulting in injury or death continue to occur because of bedrails”.  As such, we are continuing to work towards the elimination of bed rails in our home.

Mark your calendars for our “Strawberry Jamboree and Family BBQ” on Tuesday, June 18th featuring the music of Crystal Gage.

We have some gently-used clothing and assorted items that will be available on May 23rd at the Free In-house Resident Shopping event. If your loved one is in need of clothing items this is a great way to acquire some pieces at no cost.

We have collected a number of family photographs in Courtyard that have not been claimed. On your next visit please stop by the Courtyard nurses’ station to see whether any of the unclaimed photographs belong to your loved one. If your family member has photographs in their room please be sure they are labelled so they can be returned to their room. Labelling photographs with names and dates can also be an excellent way for our staff to engage with the residents and talk about their family and past.

Our service provider for Mobility Equipment Maintenance will change effective June 1, 2019 to True North Home Health.  True North will service any equipment that has been purchased from a different vendor, so there should be no disruption to services.
