Our annual Knights of Columbus BBQ at Mitchell’s Bay is scheduled for Friday August 25th.   We hope to take 22 residents from the Home and meet up with Wallaceburg Retirement Residence by the water, for a great meal and bingo. If you can transport your family member in a vehicle, please let Sherry Price know. There are only 7 stationary wheelchair spots on the bus, so those who cannot be transferred easily into a seat may not be able to attend this picnic.  However, five smaller picnics took place in June and July and two more are scheduled in August, to accommodate more residents who require wheelchairs. We try to make sure everyone has a least one opportunity to get out for a picnic in the summer months.

Thanks to the WAMBO Committee, we will be having the Dream Cruise come by the home on the evening of Friday, August 11th at approximately 7:15pm. We will have music and snacks outside the front entrance starting at 6:30 for all to enjoy. The beautiful restored cars and trucks will travel around the perimeter of Fairfield Park for our residents’ enjoyment, and the Antique Fire Truck Parade will do the same on Saturday afternoon around 3:00pm.

In September we are planning to have our annual Terry Fox Day. We hope to have all 103 resident’s sponsored for a walk around the home.  Volunteers to help porter residents who need assistance, would be greatly appreciated!  The minimum donation for sponsorship is $2.00 and all money raised will be given to the Terry Fox Foundation. This is a great way for our residents to stay involved in the community, support a good cause and get a little fresh air at the same time.  Be sure to watch for the dates and sponsor poster coming soon.

Families are welcome to book the Westside Activity Room for special occasions by contacting the Activity Department. We do ask that you please be sure to supervise small children when they are outside of the activity room for our resident’s safety.
