April 2019 News

April is Volunteer Month and we will be honoring our Volunteers with an Appreciation Luncheon on April 4th, as Our Volunteers make a big difference in the lives of our Residents. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer at Fairfield Park, please contact our Activity Department and an orientation to our Home can be arranged. Volunteers provide many complimentary services and programs, such as assisting with dining, shopping, games, fund raising, one on one visiting, palliative care, pamper programs and special events.

Due to fragrance sensitivities please do not bring Easter Lilies into the home.

We would like to express our gratitude to all family members who made a donation in memory of a loved to our memorial garden. These funds keep this garden in bloom for all to enjoy.

All of our residents love visits from their furry, four legged friends, however our home’s policy, for everyone’s safety, is to have a copy of an up to date vaccination record for each animal that visits the home. You can leave a copy with the activity department with both pet and owner’s names. Please remember to keep your pet on a leash at all times. Please be sure to let other family members know of this policy so their pets may visit the home also.

Mark your calendars for Upcoming Events:
• Geri Fashions, a mobile clothing store, will be here Tuesday April 16th, from 10-3. They carry an extensive line of easy care men and ladies wear, as well as wheel chair adaptive wear. This is a great opportunity to replenish Mom or Dad’s wardrobe. Should you purchase anything please make sure the new clothing is sent to be labeled before being put away.

• Friday May 10th – Shut in Mass and Luncheon will be held at Holy Family Church for our Catholic residents.

• Sunday May 12th – Our Annual Mother’s Day Brunch. A buffet will be served between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Cost will be $10.00 per person and $5.00 for our Residents and children under 12. Be sure to call for reservations. Residents not having guests that day will be served their regular lunch at the regular meal time.

• Tuesday, June 18th. We will have a Strawberry Jamboree with a Family BBQ and Entertainment.

RESIDENT SMOKING…If a resident asks you for a tobacco product or to take them outside so that they may smoke, it is imperative that you speak to an RN or RPN, who is aware of the resident’s plan of care, before doing anything.  This is necessary, for the safety of the resident and for the safety of others.

RESIDENT BIRTHDAY…We will be removing the date of resident’s birthdays from the bottom of the Activity Calendar that is mailed out & copies left for people to take, as well as on our website; however it will remain on the calendar that is posted within the Home (on the bulletin board & the TV screen).  As well, we will continue to wish residents a happy birthday on our local radio station, as we do our staff.    If you do not wish for this to take place (resident and/or designated POA/SDM), please speak directly with Brittany VanRuymbeke, our Director of Activation or Joanne Vink, our Office Manager.

Activity Department email…Effective April 3rd, if you want to contact the Activity Department via email, it will be changed from sherry@fairfieldpark.ca to brittanyv@fairfieldpark.ca   Or you can contact the Activity Department by phone.
